“MEET THE TEAM”

Dear Customer, Have you ever wondered about which handbags those of us at Gleni choose for ourselves? So that you can get to know us better, we have decided to do some brief interviews about our products directly with some of the individual members of our staff. We really hope that these friendly revelations will help you to feel closer to us and to our way of working, even though we may be thousands of miles away from you.

The first of us who has enthusiastically agreed to “submit” to this interview, setting the ball rolling with this project is our Tatiana, who, among other things, also originated the idea for this space.

Tatiana, do you yourself use the handbags that you proudly promote and sell around the world?

Yes, of course! At home I have many different models that are currently for sale in our Boutique and I’m really delighted with them and love wearing them.

However, by nature, I haven’t always been a lover of handbags. Do you remember our article describing the many different ‘bag personalities’ of women? I was the kind of woman described in the “Woman without bag” category. I needed to feel completely free, because I thought that a handbag couldn’t change my life. It wasn’t hard to find a beautiful bag that I liked, but it never had the space necessary to keep everything I need to always have by my side and so I often had to bring a carrier bag with me (or something similar) as well as my bag. So, whenever I could, I would go out without a bag at all, preferring to have my hands free, otherwise when necessary, I would carry a large carrier bag, which was very practical but not the least bit elegant.

My first handbag was item 3575 in black cocco Ligator skin. It was (and it still is, because it is still in production) a very small but comfortable pochette, which, with its very nice golden chain strap, allowed me to wear this handbag on the shoulder without any problem, even though I hardly ever did wear it like this. In fact, I mostly preferred leaving the strap hidden inside the pochette and held my handbag in my hand like a clutch.

Even though it appeared really small at first sight, I was able to fit everything I need to have with me every day inside it: my documents, my PDA (palmtop computer) and my cellphone. With three quite roomy compartments, this small bag replaced my wallet. So, for the first time, I had finally found a bag where I could keep everything well organized inside. Everything had its own place. It was for me a real casket always at hand. I got so used to having my purse in my hand, I could not do without it any more, I had to carry it with me all the time.

Another item that I fell in love with is the stunning tote bag 3809 in glossy walnut python skin, with a pendant decoration that makes this style even more sparkling. Very soft and capacious, this bag has room for everything that a woman needs by her side through the day. Every day, I have to take a lot of things with me, as I am a mother of 3 children, therefore, (as any mother will agree with me), I need to carry a huge amount of things inside my bag. In addition, I have a document folder, a laptop, and a palmtop, which are all essential for my job, and all that fits comfortably in my 3809, without damaging its shape, which stays as elegant, as ever (it already has large dimensions). Of course I have matched my wallet (art. 1603) with this bag, ordering it in the same color and leather as the bag. The two handles of model 3809 are medium length and they allow me either to carry the bag in my hand or to wear it on my shoulder, leaving both my hands free.

Then, I love stroking the leather of my bag! It gives me a wonderful feeling of well-being, while the pendant of crystals and semi-precious stones works as a great stress release, keeping my hands occupied during the most difficult and stressful parts of my working day and allowing me to release the nervousness and the tension just by playing with its wires and pendants. This bag is – without doubt – one of my absolute favorite models.

I like good quality, well-made products, but they must also be very comfortable. Perhaps, it is just for this reason that my favorite models are “tote bags”

My other bag is item 3769 in genuine Indio python leather in color 2006/64, (a mix of green and yellow). It’s a fresh, strong, vivid color and the leather is really good quality. It has the same effect as plush: just caress its leather once and you’re hooked even before you notice it. You can’t help stroking the leather any time it is by you.. This bag is large enough for all the things I listed above to fit perfectly, except for my document folder. In fact, having a large compartment where you can keep many things, this bag is quite wide but not over deep.

This model goes perfectly both with fairly elegant clothing, and with office wear, as well as being great for leisure time. In fact, with a comfortable detachable shoulder strap, this item may easily turn into a large shoulder bag, leaving your hands completely free. In this case, I like wearing this bag with the shoulder strap across the chest, almost like a comfortable rucksack. Of course, even here I have my matching wallet, made in the same color as the bag and a beautiful pendant, attached to the handle of the bag, because, as I said before, the pendent helps me to release my daily stress.

Among my favorite items there is also the blackberry case 1103c. I have several of these in different colors, all of them made of python skin, including some in the same color as the bags I mentioned before. In this way, having my blackberry always inside my bag, when necessary, I can leave my tote behind and just take the blackberry bag. Its dimensions are perfect also for a smartphone or a palmtop like mine, and its long strap allows me to wear it comfortably across my chest, without restricting my movement. This is a very elegant accessory, small, but really practical.

Then , I have a bag made of genuine calf skin in silver : item 3800. It is the perfect bag for the summer because it satisfies all my needs, being a universal style and color, that goes perfectly both with elegant clothes of any color or with a more informal style. It is also quite large, and I can choose whether to hold in my hand by its comfortable medium length handles or to wear it on the shoulder, using its detachable shoulder strap, which leaves your hands completely free.

Do you have a wish list for any more handbags?

Yes, of course. Once you become a bag lover it is impossible to stop. I really love tote bag 3809 that I already have, but would love to have it in genuine python leather, in IRIDE. It is a really stunning and luminous color. We sold out of these bags too quickly. Otherwise, I would probably have already bought one for myself.

Handbag 3797 made of genuine crocodile leather, currently available in our Gleni Boutique, was made in a slightly different version than normal at my request, with slightly shorter handles. It has come out beautifully with its wonderfully soft and prestigious crocodile skin, and its bright purple color that will be very fashionable next year 2009 too. This bag is absolutely perfect for a chic, sophisticated and very feminine woman, but not for me, who loves comfort and practicality above all things. So I have decided to order a different crocodile bag, probably a more casual style and certainly a larger model: a tote bag perfect for all eventualities..

Would you like to have some other kind of bag in your wardrobe, maybe a branded item or something belonging to other houses of fashion?

Frankly I don’t! Our bags have all that I need: comfort, practicality, elegance, luxury. I don’t think I’m being conceited when I say that my bags are always noticed and appreciated by everybody around me, both by women and by men. I get compliments all the time. What more could I wish for?
