What does she recommend? Let’s read more in detail……
Once you’ve bought the last Christmas present and written out your shopping lists for all your Christmas meals, one big dilemma still remains: “WHAT SHALL I WEAR FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE?”. Because we at Gleni share these same problems, I thought I would do a bit of research, looking around and investigating on the Web and checking out the Fashion Weeks, to find some useful suggestions that will help you look beautiful during such a fantastic and glittering time.
To be helpful to everybody, I have tried to find tips for the whole family: from the oldest to the youngest (our children are always beautiful but on special occasions we like dressing them up to make them even more pretty, don’t we?), and not forgetting our partners!
I have found several options so that everyone can choose what best suits the occasion. Whether you will be going to an evening party with friends, a special dinner or a New Year’s party in an exclusive club, I think you will find a suggestion for each type of occasion here, though I have also left you free to put your style together in your own way according to your personal taste.
So now, what are we waiting for? Let’s begin!
First of all, let’s keep in mind that there is just one key word for these New Year festivities: DARING! This is a very simple concept with loads of potential; fashion opens the door to several possibilities: what do you think of combining classic traditions with our magic word? For example, we could wear a sequinned sheath dress in Christmas colors, such as red, gold, silver or bronze. A good idea is to wear a black dress, knee length or just above the knee (it can be skin-tight or oversize, in satin, velvet, chiffon, organza or taffeta whatever you prefer!) and dress it up with coordinated accessories in one of the colors I just mentioned.
There are loads of accessories to choose from this year and they are all very easy to wear together: we can use pendants or silver pearls with coordinating earrings, or a wide belt and long gloves in a beautiful bright red (or a darker red for those who prefer not to be too daring). Handbags in bright colors are in, in patent finish or covered with sequins, and they should be small and very elegant. But don’t forget that there are many other fashion accessories that you can use this winter: bows, scarves and shawls, hats, colored tights, silver key-rings, sparkling hair clips, sweater pins; these are just a few examples to give you an idea. For shoes we could opt for some nice and simple pumps that go with the accessories you choose, and these too should be in a glossy patent finish to bring more light and sparkle to your image.
Another option to consider is leggings. In this case the lovers of casual and the new punk look (the tomboy is a cult this year!) will have plenty of choice to find what suits them best. We could choose to wear leggings with sequins (best in black, but, if we want to be daring, we can also go for gold!) with a simple and filmy pullover in gray, beige or another of the fashion colors of this winter, like purple, green or dark blue. Another option is to team black leggings (especially hot if they have a metallic or shiny finish, so that they look like leather) with a sexy jersey mini-dress, which is at the same time comfortable and very warm and a wide belt, or with a long top in warm colors (to contrast with the dark color of the leggings). We have a choice of three types of shoe for our feet (depending on the style we’re after): black or silver ballet flats, which absolutely must be glittery, a pair of ankle-boots or wedge shoes.
Two other very good and stylish ideas, in my opinion, are the following: if you love the East you could wear a short kimono (a sort of mini dress but in perfect Chinese style) in red with floral decorations and patterns in black and gold, worn with black ballet flats if you prefer a casual style, or with elegant black stiletto sandals, for an elegant look, which will highlight your legs’ silhouette, giving definition to contours, muscles and beauty. This is a great look however young you are and is striking and original. In this case, it would be better to avoid wearing too much jewelry, and to choose a very small and appropriate pochette, unstructured and with soft folds, to wear on the wrist, in glossy black just like the kimono patterns or red to match the base color of the kimono. If on the other hand you are after glamour, you should opt for black high-waist shorts and a satin blouse (red rather than white, to celebrate the Christmas spirit) or else one made of lace. As for tights, you have endless choices: you can opt for simple flesh-colored tights, or be more daring with bright colors that match your blouse or your accessories; otherwise you could choose lacy tights, for a very refined and romantic aspect. For shoes to complete this look, if possible, wear ’50s style sandals , or, alternatively, ankle boots, with very high heels and rounded toes.
If the occasion is more formal, you can always opt for a beautiful evening dress, which might be long, with flounces, in a Victorian style for example, worn with very simple open-toed pumps (though the grandeur, length and beauty of the dress hides the shoes rather) which will give you a very intriguing air. It would also be very elegant without sleeves, worn with long lace gloves.
If you still haven’t decided what you will be doing for New Year’s Eve, I suggest wearing more casual clothes and sweaters, which can easily be adapted to any occasion; as far as the colors and accessories are concerned, choose one of the options that I proposed above.
A make-up tip: focus attention on the lips with lipstick in strong colors: all shades of red, from the most velvety to the brightest ones will go well with the colors in vogue this year (you remember them: gray, blue, amaranth red, purple and black). The important thing is that your lips are glossy for a sexy and intriguing effect.
Lingerie: during these holidays you have plenty of choices with underwear and lingerie sets in red or fuchsia.
For partners: I found some very interesting outfits that he could choose according to the event in which you will be taking part. For an elegant evening I suggest black pinstripe trousers, shiny black shoes, shirt (you can choose between white or black) and a beautiful purple tie, perhaps to go with whatever you are wearing, so that it is clear that you are a couple. An elegant alternative is the classic two-piece suit with shirt, but no tie, still with shiny black shoes.
Another more casual option, which is still great for New Year’s Eve is to wear drain-pipe jeans, preferably in a dark color, with a white shirt and either a black jacket or an oversize knitted pullover, which is a huge winter fashion “must” (and here too he has endless choices: he can opt for a V-neck pullover or a zip front, or go for a slightly different style with button opening on the shoulder, he can choose a multicolored one, one with squares, or in just one color), then complete the look with sneakers in shiny black or beige. If you are going out, I suggest topping this off with a leather jacket, which is very fashionable this winter.
For the kids: jeans, white shirt, shiny black waistcoat or a colored pullover, black bow-tie and ankle-boots or sneakers in shiny black like dad’s for the boys; a simple knee-length dress, in black or red, or a denim skirt with a pretty pullover in gray or blue (an alternative: a lolita style satin skirt, slightly puffed, and a shiny satin blouse), colorful tights, ballet flats in shiny black or silver, with ribbons or clips in her hair for the girls.
And with this last suggestion we are done, dressed and ready for the party!
