It wasn’t very long ago that men were expected to keep everything they needed in their pockets. Keys, wallet, phone: all would have to find a home in a jacket or trouser pocket. The only permitted accessory for work was a uniform briefcase or attaché case, boxy, boring and black or brown. For casual carting around of equipment a sports bag with a sporting logo showed its manly purpose with no style achieved or intended.
Yet in 2009 it now seems that men have almost as much choice as women when it comes to bags: messenger bags, tote bags and there were even some men’s clutches shown on the catwalk by top designers for autumn/winter 2009/2010.

This year 2009 is mainly characterized by the return of classic colors, perennial shades which are always in vogue, despite the passing of time. Black and white are the ultimate in high fashion but they are not the only colors for the 2009. Italian designers and fashion houses have re proposed more shaded light colors such as grey and beige, either in combination with black or white or as a principal color in themselves.

Many of the top, world famous fashion houses took part in this show and it would be almost impossible describe each of them in detail. So we have decided to concentrate just on those designers who, more than others, have prioritized the usage of prestigious exotic leathers in the making of their masterpieces or have re-proposed the use of handbags and suitcases for men too, because, in our opinion, they are more relevant to our business and to our projects than the others.
