How to choose your top beach bag

Summer is here at last (at least according to the calendar)!  We feel like going to the beach and relaxing completely. But what are the most important qualities to take into consideration when we are buying a summer bag to have at our side throughout the hot days we’ll be spending at the beach?

For this purpose we won’t be suggesting one of our handbags. Bags made of exotic leather aren’t suited to hot summer days of sun, saltwater and sand.

Even though we are sure that none of you would think of wearing your precious exotic leather bags, (especially a genuine python bag) to go with your beach wear, we still want to emphasise that if you want your exotic leather handbag to last for a long time, you have to take care of it and sun doesn’t really help you with that. So, if you can’t take one of our bags to the beach, it’s important to choose another sort of beautiful bag to accompany you throughout the summer.

Should a beach bag have some important characteristics? Of course it should.

• The first fundamental point is beauty: your bag has to be beautiful and perfect for you. A beach bag is like all other bags;  it is in fact an accessory that defines our style.

And, of course, we want to be fashionable and stylish at the beach too.

• Another fundamental point is resilience. A lot of beautiful bags, aren’t as tough as they should be. Do we want to set out for the beach and, halfway there, find out that our bag is broken? Of course not.
• The most appropriate closure for a beach bag is a zippered closure to prevent sand getting in your bag. It’s also useful to protect our things  inside the bag, such as keys, cell-phone and wallet from sand and loss, and to guard our privacy  from curious glances.
• The bag should be capacious! We have to take a lot of things with us everyday: a bathing towel, a book, a magazine, sun lotion, moisturizer, cell-phone… and so on. Then consider that we mostly don’t go to the beach alone but with our family or with our children, so our bag should be big enough  to hold their things too!!!
• It’s better if the bag is a shoulder bag, to leave your hands free.
• One last tip: you should also put a small pochette in your  beach bag, which you can always take with you if you want to stroll along the beach or go out on a boat. You don’t want to leave important things unsupervised under your sun umbrella,  so it should fit your keys, wallet and your  cell phone. This  small pochette should be water-resistant to protect everything securely.

What material should your beach bag be made of? Straw, cloth, foam… there are a lot of  possibilities. The most important thing is that you like this bag, given that you will be wearing it every day.

And in the evenings? Certainly, you will be going out at night… and obviously a foam-bag isn’t appropriate.
